It seemed a long time since Charlie had been here last. The thought filled her with a delicate ache in her gut. Last time... last time she had had Cherokee, and her friends. Her paw rose to her chest, gently touching the thick crystal amulet that hung there, mostly hidden in her fur. Even still she had it, though the ancestors hadn't spoken to her from it in a long time. Her eyes closed and she shook her head, as though to rid it of the past. But the past could never be forgotten, not entirely. A sharp cold ran through her body, and it felt pleasent as her stagnant blood froze in her veins. The frost around her cackled like some sinister monster. It squealed and sizzled as it hit the warm air, and dissipated into mist.
Soon the frost that followed her would blend in with her surroundings. As she passed through a forest, which once banked an ocean, Charlie came to a cliffside. Standing on the precipice, she looked down. Through some great continental change, the ocean had gone, sunken away. It left the residents of Wolf Attraction a gift. Now jagged spikes of ice rested in the basin and along the cliffside, year-round. They gleamed in the sun, daring wolves and other creatures to venture down the cliff and to their death. Her paw brushed nothing but air as Charlie began to walk off the side. She tumbled dangerously forwards, but her body would not be broken by the fall. Beneath her, a scoop of ice slid, catching her about a foot from the precipice.
It moulded to her paws, holding her fast as it gradually moved down the cliff side, bringing Charlie to the bottom. Once there, the ice flattened and moved away from her to freeze into jagged spikes a distance away. The cold clung to her paws and bones, itching to hold her there. But what the ice seemed to have forgotten was that Charlie controlled it, not the other way around. It loosened its painful grip as she turned to the cliff face. Her eyes landed upon two particularly large ice crystals that rested against each other. Walking up to them, the crystals moved aside to reveal a tunnel. Her smell had long ago been lost in this cold barren, but it still looked the same as when she had seen it last. Shaking herself, a few loose strands of fur fell around her, and Charlie began into the cave, walking down memory lane.
