I'm leaving in a few guys but I wanted opinions on what I have so far of a chapter I wrote last night. So please tell me what you think and what I can improve on? Thank you! I'll see you all in a week!
Am I an idiot? How could a hearing girl possibly even think about liking me? I’m a freak! Someone who can’t hear or talk why would she even put up with that? Although I do have these rugged good looks but that’s not the point. He sighed as he walked toward the café where they had been meeting for the last week and a half and each time it felt like the first. Awkward and uncomfortable because she couldn’t sign and he couldn’t talk-well he could but he refused to Brooke would only make fun of him even if she didn’t seem the type most people did.
The café was warm and comforting against his chilled body as he sought for a place to sit he finally found a small table next to the window, and even though he disliked the spot because the cold could easily get through he decided to sit anyway. Brooke would like it he was sure of it they could see the dangling lights from the naked trees and the snow Aiden glanced down at the table feeling slightly nervous for sitting by himself and he noticed that the writing was gone. Not that it mattered now of course since they were meeting face to face but it still bothered him, maybe it was the wrong table? With very little hope the Frenchman looked up and glanced around the room finding that his hope was shattered and this was indeed the correct table.
It was expected however, wasn’t it? The waitresses weren’t just going to keep meaningless scribbles written on the table because he wanted them to. Sighing he hardly noticed that someone was seated across from him until he felt a gentle tap on his shoulder and he looked up slightly startled at the presence until he realized it was Brooke. Aiden smiled and pressed the side of his hand to his forehead palm down before he waved it forward and then proceeded to circle his face once and close his hand in a fist once the circle was complete. Obviously Brooke was a little confused catching only the first sign as hello noticing her confusion Aiden grew more uncomfortable and wrote what he was trying to say on the table.
Hello Beautiful.
Reading what he had written a modest smile tugged on her lips and he could see her cheeks were tinted pink. “Hello.” She greeted using the first sign he had used and sat down across from him she was a little nervous not exactly knowing what to say to start a conversation and unsure if he would understand her anyway. “Uhm…what’s up?” She asked trying to lower her voice to an even tone even after a whole week it was a habit to pick up her tone when speaking to him something that she was sure annoyed him. Aiden smiled as he noticed she was trying to make conversation and he carefully watched her lips move as she spoke.
Wondering if he should just write his reply down on the table or sign it he chose to do both. First signing his reply and liping what he was trying to say he knew that Brooke was going to ask him to repeat it so she could try to follow along. Which is why he also wrote down his response: Freezing my ass off. After replying the man couldn’t help but grin at his witty remark and watched as the girl read it amusement clear on her face and she laughed “Have you been waiting long?” No, not really. “Do you want something to drink to warm you up?” A coffee please, black. He watched as she smiled and nodded before she got up and walked off toward the line to order.
Aiden felt a little annoyed with their current situation. She obviously was trying to understand but it wasn’t enough and he was tired with writing down his responses. It was like as if they weren’t really meeting face to face but back to their old ways of communication-through this damn table.
